Urban Yamadori Grewia

Post by Regan »

Hi, just dug up this Grewia this morning from a house demolition site. Pretty easy to dig as there was only about a foot of soil and then a hard clay bed, so the roots were all growing out to the sides. Obviously the soil level has been raised at some stage as it had a a heap of nice feeder roots growing above the older large roots.

I have no idea what I'm going to do with this yet, I'll have to wait and see how it shoots back. Any ideas are welcome.

good stuff regan :D it looks like a solid stump, what i would be doing is putting it a shady spot, could soak it in seasol and superthrive mix for half a day to a day, then when it starts throwing new shoots you can gradually move it out to a sunny position getting a bit longer avery few days, then you will eventually have something to work with as right now we would just be speculating on where foliage would be.

Isnt it nice when gardeners have done the prep work for you 8-) You have a sweet base to go on from there, my kind of starting stock. Keep us posted on its progress

Already done Jamie, well seasol anyway I don't have any superthrive.

Was very interesting cleaning out the roots, TWO ants nests, green ants :x and normal old black ants in a bit of rotten old fence post or something.

its odd that green ants were in the soil, the green ants i know of make massive nests out of leaves high up in the trees and they always seem to drop down on ya unexpectedly when ya walk under the trees.
