Hey Guys
Some bad news at the moment. I mentioned that Don had to get official permission for us to collect in his usual olive collecting area. It was denied. Don seemed to have more confidence in his local council than we expect from them!
I only have limited info at the moment from some text messages on Thursday as I have been away since then so I can give some further info after I talk to Don. Last message was something about his back being to the wall which I guess is to do with the busy spring season and I can never be confident that I can get him on the phone but I hope to get more info within a day or two.
It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.

Looks like you'll have to relocate the dig to the Adelaide Hills :D , the only permission I need is from God, and he's fine with it. ;)

Which are the weeds - the olives or the council? Both are pests and will ruin the environment......

Bugga Brett... bloody councillors ... almost as bad as state politicians and dont get me started on the monkeys trying to con a vote out of us in the current campaigns... I am glad I live in my own world & ignore the 'real'(sic) one..

Ozzy a dig in the Adelaide hills sounds like fun, saw some almost instant bonsai when I was down there in the late 90's, at most 2-3' tall & massive bases. Best of all I spied an old abandoned vineyard on the edge of suburbia, probably bulldozed by now but reckon I could find the spot pretty easy again and just pray the developers havent gone as mad down your way as they have in Sydney, Melbourne, almost everywhere else...

How bout we poison the council and dig the olives.... save the country a fortune in wages & weed eradication

i have 2 spare rooms at my place and there are still plenty of olives from balaklava threw to Gawler and then the hills

or this way the hills threw to gawler and back to balaklava via saddleworth

mabe just go to hay planes and find other spots to dig on the way to dons house we all still go and see don with his advice and we all just go in different directions to find olives and return to dons

Hey Guys.
Haven't talked with Don yet. The original plan was to find our own dig site out Dons way until he offered up his. I was always keen on an Autumn trip out that way as there is not much on at that time of year. I would be happy just with the trip out to Don's without collecting, especially since I found some olives local. Offsetting the petrol cost with olive stock sounded like a good idea though.
I wanted to talk with Don first but I would be keen to head out there next Autumn as first planned and maybe collect some on the way as Chris suggests.
I am pretty easy either way as long as you guys are happy. I am over due for a trip out to SA but I don't think I will make it there this spring :(
