Does anyone have an idea of how old my tree would be? It's trunk is 10mm.

i couldnt tell ya mate, mine is about the same size. i have had it for about a year and it has put about an extra 1/4 thickness on the trunk... (bout 3 mm)
but i dont know the growth rate on these as young sapplings???
if you go by that theory of the 3mm in the year then that would make mine about 3 years old...??

Hi all.
I was just out the back looking at my pine, and noticed that one of the lower branches, there is a bud on the tip that is starting to go green. Well actually, it is all green.
Is this what happens when they swell, before turning into candles?
There is one more on the tip of one of the longer, higher branches, which is not as green, but it is about three times the size.
At least I havent harmed the tree with the wiring and re-pot ( well I hope not anyway )

they open into a cluster of little needles then the candle come later. this has happened because ofthe pruning back. as long as you always prunr back to needles. if there is nothing there the branch just dies.

Great
My little tree is in full sun all day except for late afternoon, so hopefully it will do well. Wev'e had two great spring days here, so hopefully the warmer weather is here to stay.
We actually had snow in November last season
Dad was a bit worried about his trees after they had budded, and then to go back to the -2 Degrees c mark. I really hope that it doesn't happen again. His trees did handle it though.
