this is my fig that iv had for a couple years and Im kiinda lost with it, id tried root over rock but haven't repotted since I put in that pot 1.5 years ago, id lost all motivation with this particular tree and let it grow out but 2 much so I chopped 2 branches off defoliated it and re-styled it but still not happy with it.
any advice would be great!

yeh that was my first thought but I wasn't to sure how to go about it, will see how it looks in a few weeks than re-asses it I think.

Don't be shy. Chop just below where you start the wire. Plant the bit you chop off.
Then repot into the ground/colander/larger pot (not massive pot), take the opportunity to root prune hard.
Feed with seasol and it'll be fine. Ask yourself, do u want a
Bonsai that's "ok" or do you want a great bonsai. You'll be glad you chopped it back

I agree with these guys, mate (on both points). But I would also plant the bottom into a larger pot and place some sphagnum moss around the base and try and thicken up some of those roots around the rock (maybe get some more) while you develop a new trunk.Isitangus wrote:Don't be shy.
