mix for collected pines?

Discussions about propagating from cuttings, seeds, air layers etc. Going on a dig (Yamadori) or thinking of importing? Discuss how, when and where here.

mix for collected pines?

Post by Hornet »

What mixes can be used for collected pines? Would a sifted potting mix and sand mix be ok?

Re: mix for collected pines?

Hi there Hornet,

I guess we treat them as normal pines: good drainage etc.

I had no experiences with large collected pines, but I guess a mixture of diatomite, red scoria and pine barks will do.

Mr. alpineart has recent posted several posts under "Pines and Junipiers" on collected European black pines.

I found them a good source of information.

Cheers.
