He does work hard

Post by Pup »

Another dig for Craig, my neighbour had a Bottlebrush (Callistemon) he wanted out, now so our tenacious, moderator obliged.

It stopped raining long enough for him to dig it out but then as he was tidying up it started again so yours truly got out of the rain.

Here is the result.

Nice score :-)

Must not be that hard to dig, Look at that sandy ground !
Better than the clay and rock I get here!

Someone has to get the easy stuff, Right  Yes, the sandy soils do make some digging fairly easy,

Nice bark and thick trunk on that baby Craig! What height will you reduce it to?

Nice score. :tu: I to, am jealous of the easy digging conditions. In Central Victoria i would have had to dig out a mountain of rock to get at it. Keep us updated on its progress here at A.B.

Agreed Diederik it is so selfish of Craig to rub us easterners noses in the ease of digging over there :shake: I have a graveyard of dead callistemon as a result of hard ground up here.

Dario, i'm thinking something like this ? What do you reckon mate. The trunk gets cut down to that first branch(900mm) and grow branching from there, ending up somewhere around :lost: 1.3-1.4m high,, no point wasting such a beautiful trunk if i don't need to .I borrowed Jamie's Virt bits  :D thanks Jamie.

an update of a Native :tu:

This tree has recovered very well since collection. It had a bare minimum of roots and has reshot all over the trunk, alot of shoots were removed saving some for it's design . looking like it may be a nice tree in a few years.

i've since wired some branches and thinned out the branches a bit.
