I took my Syzygium paniculatum (or australe?? unsure) to our local bonsai club this weekend and asked for some styling ideas. I purchased it from the local bulk nursery supplier and have just looked at it for 12 months or so.
As the first photo shows (angle not so good sorry
), it had a natural semi cascade or windswept form that i had thought was the clear option. However some keener and more experienced minds (club members) suggested to elevate it about 90 degrees and then rotate slightly to show the trunk and then heavily bend the long branch back into a trailing cascade.To stop the expanding limbs from cutting into coiled wire, we tie-wired a set or parallel wires along the length.
I hope to show you the progression as it fills out and i can develop the head and tail. Thanks Ed and Craig for the advice and workshop
