Where can i plant some trees ?

Discussions about propagating from cuttings, seeds, air layers etc. Going on a dig (Yamadori) or thinking of importing? Discuss how, when and where here.

Post by Paulneill »

Hi all.

Due to limited garden space i am looking for places to plant some trees . are there places to rent like allotments in Sydney ? or could i just find some waste ground in my area and plant a few? how often would i need to water and check on them ?

:gday: Paul, You could try neighbours, parents, relatives ,Friends, anyone you know really. Reticulated gardens would be the go , less worrying about watering :tu2: .

I was considering the roof the other day, as most of my yard is shaded. Full size poly boxs, within reach of the garden hose.
Regards, Mitchell.

I would think trees planted on public/ waste land would not stay long enough to grow into anything useful. Maybe Community gardens would be worth looking at. They are usually used for veges but if you rent a plot you should be able to grow whatever you want as long as it is legal. Some may specify organic only. Check some of thesehttp://www.cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au/Resi ... ations.asp
With some creativity you might find some other spots too - gardens at work? Poly boxes , crates or large wooden boxes up to fruit bin size are used but it gets expensive to fill large crates with potting mix/ soil

I have to water the trees about once a week (when there's no rain) during the first year. The second year they are ok unless it is really dry. Prune once or twice a year. that's all.
