Re: Superthrive Banned !
Like you Leigh I was wondering when as they would not say what was in it. Dumper it was a supplement, that was used by many Bonsai enthusiasts when re potting and used for reviving sick plants.
Over the years it has been the subject of many a heated discussion, on its merits and whether seasol was just as good. Well it looks like the advocats of using it as against Seasol will have to find out, now.
Cheers Pup

Re: Superthrive Banned !
If it is banned I will go out on my limb and state it would not have been for not saying what was in it.
Look at all the other soil conditioners that don't say what is in them. Yet Superthrive actually has a decent run down of it's ingredients
My understanding is only fertilisers are made to display their analysis.
The only thing I can find from google is from a stoner website that was last year stating that all PGR's where banned
So if super thrive was banned for that then I would imagine that the stronger concentration PGR's such as rooting hormones would also have to be banned. Then again for that reason so would seasol
Please fill us in where this info came from Leigh and if any reason was given?
Edit: Apparently there was a rumor going around that Superthrive was banned in Canada but no one ever found any evidence of this and retailers continue to get in new shipments.

It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.

Re: Superthrive Banned !
Super snake oil i reckon. I bought some once on a whim, came home and read up on the stuff then returned it and spent the money on something else. just the hype and language they used to promote it was enough to put me off! haha
Do wonder what the reason for the ban is though??

Re: Superthrive Banned !
The hormone 1-Naphthyl acetic acid (NAA) does not occur naturally. Under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), products containing NAA require registration with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as pesticides. The sale of Superthrive is prohibited in Oklahoma, Minnesota, and Oregon as an unregistered pesticide.
This is from wikipedia, maybe the ban here has something to do with this???

Re: Superthrive Banned !
Seems to be.." much ado about nothing" as is always the way when something disappears, Something bigger, better and shinier will come along to replace it. It is the way of human nature. Just like steroids when they were banned then along came HGH and then along came....never ending.

Re: Superthrive Banned !
Here in lies the debate, even though it has never been used it is labeled as no good. Ask the waccy baccy growers what they reckon.
A bit like not using honey for striking cuttings, it is only a fungus inhibitor!! but it works in helping the set roots because it does inhibit.
The use of rooting hormone diluted also helps with rooting, as does vitamin B which Superthrive had in abundance. It was fantastic for hangovers too.
So some will mourn and others will scorn whats new in this.
Cheers Pup

Hi Brett - My wholesale distributor told me this morning - I didn't ask why - I am sure the reason will be found by someone!
Cheers,

Re: Superthrive Banned !
My supplier has suggested the following product as a replacement for Superthrive. They are saying that this product is selling well in the hydroponics industry. Here is an extract from their catalogue:
Floralicious Plus
It's all in there! Floralicious Plus is a super concentrated blend of plant, marine, and mineral extracts. Floralicious Plus is a one part nutrient additive to be used throughout the plants growing cycle.
Floralicious Plus is highly recommended for situations when a plant has been through a major stressful situation. Always use in addition to the regular fertiliser program.
The best replacement product for 'Superthrive'
Cheers,
Leigh.

Re: Superthrive Banned !
looks like super thrive, with humic and fluvic acids, and kelp extract, and active bacillus bacteria, to break down and remineralize nutrients.
