Re: Diatomite
Hey Paulneill, I would probably try somewhere like Australian Native Landscapes (ANL) or specialist landscape supply places. Diatomite sounds like a volcanic rock?? Is that what it is? If thats the case; I use Zeolite which I incorporate into my bonsai soil mixes and propgating mix for cuttings. Please get back to me.

Re: Diatomite
It is a silaca material dug from the ground . Madenwell mine is the place in oz were it comes from 11 dollars for 40 liters apparently . I have used zeolight and have heard it's not as good as diatomite because it's too heavy and takes longer to dry out.

Re: Diatomite
Zeolite and Diatomite are very different and should be use as a compliment to each other and not as a replacement.Paulneill wrote:It is a silaca material dug from the ground . read all the threads linked above to learn all about the differences in the various suppliers in OZ. there are more than just one

ps
Can we please refer to Japanese Maples as such, and not Japanese ? some members and guests here might be put off by that abbreviation
Thanks
Ken

Re: Diatomite
Next time you're in the Supermarket check the Kitty Litter. Diatomacious clay is often used for this purpose.
