Omiya Bonsai Festival....

Post by SimonL »

Hey,

I remember reading some time ago that people were going to attend the festival this year. I was wondering if anyone is still going?

When is it? I am going to Japan in September to visit some friends and family after what has happened lately.

Yeah, May 3-5 is the festival. I'm still going. And I imagine Rowdy is too, as he has family (in laws) in or very near Omiya.
I can't wait :D
Even given the recent tragedy, I am excited!!

I have to ask, are you not worried about what could happen with the radiation problems in Fukushima?

Not at this stage, no. I will be based in Tokyo, and Omiya isn't far out of tokyo. It is most likely that the radiation will be blown into the sea anyway unless there is a more serious meltdown/disaster. Tokyo is pretty safe at the moment. I'll obviously be keeping an eye on the news and stuff between now and then though.

We are decideing if we are still going to go.

My wife is very concerned about radiation and dosnt want to go any more.
we are going to wait till the end of this month before we make any decisions though.

I would still be happy to go.
