japan tsunami and earthquake

just to say a few words for the people in japan hope they are all safe and well with the latest earthquake
as it hit at 8.9 on the scale and now are faced with a tsunami and now we have just been advised that
the north coast is in threat from the tsunami so all my prayers go out for everyone affected

There has been damaged buildings and fires in Tokyo, despite the quake epicentre being 380kms away. Scary. No risk of tsunami for the noth coast of Australia, the alert has been cancelled.

its hard to complehend this force. The earthquake itself did little in the way of devistation. The tsunami is what has caused this horror with anything in its path GONE. I beleive b4 the end of the day the toll will be in the thousands it simply moved to fast and pushed ALONG way inshore. 5-10 minutes notice at best since the epecentre was close to land. ALL farming land in its path, hothouses etc just vanished. A VERY sad day

Gerard, have you heard from Joe, I hope his family is safe. He may have heard from Yoshi, I havent heard from him nor Maki. Hope all our friends are ok.

I heard from yoshi. He and his family are shaken but ok.

Those of my friends and family that we have been able to contact are for the most part ok.

That being said there are a lot of people that were not as lucky and my heart goes out to them and their families.

Absolutely devastating.

It is one disaster after another in 2011. Hopefully no more will come.

My sister in law and father in law got a very big shake at around mAgnitude 6.5 but fortunately only a few vases and fragile items were broken after having been thrown to the floor. Biggest I ever felt in my 8 years over there was a 5.5 and that was bloody scary..can't imagine how terrifying this one must have been.

I found a link on another site about Marco Invernizzi Starting up a Relief Fund for Isao Omachi, who has lost everything including his home in the Sendai area.
Luckily he an his family was not at home when the earthquake hit

everyone
with the japanese at risk of nucleur meltdown and my inlaws in taiwan i am wondering if they would be affected
by the fall out if they are it means they will come here no no no will get nagged by motherinlaw
brother inlaw will watch tv all day and sister inlaw will go shopping all day and then the mother inlaw will
want me to sort my plants out and clean the yard
i think my only way out of this is to go on holiday myself
but most of all i hope it doesnt get to meltdown point i think the japanese have suffered enought
from all this my prayers go out to them still
