Sick swamp cypress

Post by Robio »

Hey there

I am new to the forum and need some help.

My swampy has gone from pic 1 to pic 2 in a month.

I am in brisbane and we have heaps of rain and I had left it in a bucket so i may have drowned it.

I have been using neutrogs rooster booster and seamungus.

When i noticed the change, pruned some branches and i repotted into a free flowing mix and dunked it in yates anti rust, seasol and superthrive. (I can tend to overdo things!!)

was thinking of hitting it with lime sulphur as well - although it looks pretty sick. also wondering about mites although i think I can usually see them and they go with treatment pretty quick.

I have other swampies that are doing fine and have been treated the same.

any suggestions? (I am hoping they do not involve a match and some petrol).

Hey Robio

Has it been completely covered in water or only partially in? Swampies live in water but need to breath so need to have the top of the pot out of water. In nature they grows 'knees' to breath like mangroves have the root spikes.

We have a workshop meeting for the society this weekend, so would be good to bring it along and I can have a look for you if you like. Don't spray it with Lime Sulphur.

Hope to see you there

Hey Tony

Yes, it was covered, the early pic shows the leaves down low over the pot and I was unable to see the soil which had water pooling on it.

I will bring it in for the workshop on the weekend. Thanks.
