Merrylands RSL requested that a Bonsai club put on a Bonsai Show on Australia Day. As a result We are putting on a combined Sydney Clubs Bonsai Show under the AABC and BFA banners.

Entry is free.

If you want to participate contact your local club. It has happend with very little notice and all help will be appreciated. This was not an opportunity to be missed.

We would like to thank the Merrylands RSL for allowing us to present our trees.

Lets put a show on to be proud of.

Should be a good one.

I hope the NBPCA will have a presence there(promotional only) and be able to reveal the plans for our new site/permanent home for the collection.

I intend to be there.

What a goldern opportunity. Hope there will be a very large rubbish bin at the front door - for the depositing therein of all the EGO'S. Also hope the politics get left home and you guys have a truelly great show, with lots of pix posted here for all us out of towners. :P ;)

NO bin required. No egos . Each club gets to display the same number of trees. Suiseki will also be on display. The biggest issues are only two months to get the trees show ready and it is in the middle of Summer not the best time to show out trees off.

This could be the forerunner for future Sydney combined shows as an annual event, with the possibility of becoming a competetive show like those staged in other countries.
So please show your support by displaying bonsai if you are a member of one of the Sydney clubs involved or by by attending the show on Australia day.

Jonden, I'm back on track now recovering at home, so if there is any thing you need me to do let me know.

Everyone, when we went to look at the Venue and discuss the event with Merrylands RSL 3 or so weeks ago, I was worried about the incredibly short notice and the awful time of year, but after seeing the Venue all that fell away. What Merrylands RSL is offering us at no charge is incredible. It's huge, the lighting is great, there is a big stage and the marketing people couldn't be more helpful. The belief that a successful combined show, at such short notice, comes simply because there are so many people are members of Clubs affliated with both the BFA and the AABC and the opportunity to work as one was something that could not be passed up. Please contact the organisers to be a part of this!

Cheers

:aussie: Eight Clubs, AABC and BFA ... people with a love of little trees all teaming up together for the promotion of our passion.

Bins and Egos ... something of a time long past! :imo:

It was wonderful to visit Sydney for Dorothy Koreshoff's Birthday Weekend, Weekend of Newcastle Bonsai Show ... and then to a bunch of others from a broad spectrum of clubs, associations and businesses. I experienced a vibrant bonsai culture in Sydney on this (and previous visits) which tells me that there is much to be gained through us all working together and cross-promoting! :hooray: :hooray: :hooray:

There is a heap of intensive preparation going into this event ... and while I will not be able to be there ... this year ... I am looking forward to seeing a heap of photos.
