styling ideas for JBP
hi all, I have an idea where I would like this tree to go, but would like other suggestions and ideas, right now stands about 400mm from soil

It appears to be grafted, what is the top section?
The graft appears to have a large buldge. But the graft looks clean. First step would be to fatten up the trunk in an attempt to remove the bump.

yes it is a graft, top is dwarf japanese black pine, I thought it looked clean and workable and in time will blend in and almost dissapear

I agree with jezza on this one, the graft looks quite clean but you will need to grow it on a bit to get the lump out, what i would do is at the first whorl take everything of but one branch, leaving the trunk as is (dont cut the trunk, just the branches on the whorl apart from 1).
doing it that way the main trunk as is now would become a sacrifice and the first branch from the whorl, the one you keep becomes the new leader.
the other option is to go with a literati, wire and grow the movement and lumps in the tree, make the lumps from the graft and whorls as a feature
