VET WRAP
The effectiveness of this depends on the brand. Equine Flexible is best as a stiffer wrap is not as good. T-shirt strips have also been used. Basically use what is available as long as the wrap does minimal damage to the bark and works to contain the splitting that will occur in the branch in bending.

RAMIFICATION
The more branches your tree has the more ramification and the more ramification the smaller the leaves.

CHANGING CLIMATE
When you change climate you also have to change your growing techniques to get the same or similar development from your trees. Procedures that work in one micro-climate will not necessarily work in another.

BALANCING FOLIAGE
Thinner trunks on junipers should be countered with sparser foliage. This balances a slender trunk and achieves the feeling of age, durability and harsh growing conditions. As the trunk thickens with age the foliage can be allowed to thicken accordingly, proportionately.

If your trunk is curvy the branches should reflect the trunk movement. Straight branches on a curvy trunk or curvy branches on a straight trunk are not cohesive. The entire tree must reflect the same movement.

FERTILISER
Fertiliser – feed well and regularly. When you repot use slow release in the soil and when the tree is ready use a gentle fertiliser. In the tropics fertilise at a lower level, in cooler climates use a stronger dose due to the shorter growing season.

You can use Seasol on all trees. There was a myth that Seasol kills Banksias but this is only a myth.
