Native lists

Post by MattA »

I was looking over the Australian plants as bonsai webpage recently and noticed for the first time the request fro growers to submit a list of plants they are growing in there own collections. so I promptly sat down & did up a list got a bitof a shock when the list was done, by the total number of different species & ssp I am using. Dutifully send off.

But wait theres a reply and it wasnt sent very long ago, it asks for my location & more specific details of what I have done with each & when I have done it. Sounds simple doesnt it... well its taken a couple of weeks to do and I will tweak it before sending, but its been worth it. I am looking at how I grow in a different light & in particular my poor record keeping over my history with them and wish it wasnt so.. would have been so easy to just copy the files for each variety & send the whole lot instead of having to cobble together some sort of semblence of useful info.

So to all of you out there like me who hadnt done either of the above 2 things, maybe its time you did. Start here http://asgap.org.au/bonsai/Australian_P ... onsai.html I for one would love to see what comes out of pooling such a wide amount of varying practices & microclimates. Does anyone know if there is an intention to publish the finding in a book or on a webpage?

There is to be a book published. With all the information gathered. I am told it is to be a hard back.

Hi Matt, how did you find out about such a website?? This is awesome!! Can't wait to get stuck into it and find out more. Will wait until tonight when I have a bit more time so I can read it at my leisure.

Thanks for that

John, I found it a few months ago when I rejoined the cyberworld. It wasnt till a few weeks ago that I noticed the request for information. Do get around to doing up your list of species, I didnt think I was doing anything different or unusual. You just never know until you go.
