Hi all,
We have just moved to the display area for the first time this Desert Ash.
It is also the first tree to represent South Australia at the collection.
A lovely root over rock....
......The training of this elegant bonsai started at least 50 years ago, after it was dug up somewhere
in South Australia. Initially trained in the “root over rock” style, its thick roots still clasp the stone. Its age
is evident, e.g. in the strong trunk with the deeply furrowed bark. The reduction in leaf size, compared to
that of a full-grown tree, is remarkable, while the triangular outline is a traditional bonsai feature.
