Might be a while before he gets on today. 30 000 homes still without power. What are the odds one will be his. I think he was right in the fireing line of that storm and those hailstones and falling trees can do some serious damage

Hi ya guys we are safe it was the northern suburbs and the city and coastal. We had a lot of rain bit of wind I have some of my neighbours yard in mine.

Not like the poor buggers at the bottom of Kings Park a block of flats the ground floor is full of Kings park 3 flat 1200cm deep in mud from the park.
The University lost most of the original stained glass windows and the Library was under 1200 of water.
Lots of trees down roofs lost and thousands of cars ruined by hail.

So one small tree and some sand is not any trouble.
Thank you for your thoughts I do have some friends in the Northern suburbs who I have not heard from so I am hoping.

Paul O who has some trees entered in the Native Comp lives near the Coast do not know how he went though.

Thanks guys we were very lucky 25,000 cars one third right offs some it will take two years to repair.
Also a lot of the houses damaged will also take a long time.

Our daughters power has just been restored. The son in law is into electronics so they have a generator, so he is not the nerd we thought he was

Cut off the broken bits, and dig the stump, Pot it up and pretty soon you might have a tree of a small enought width to height ratio to make Ant happy
You might need a bigger pot than average to fit it in tho

That photo is insane! I've never seen anything like it. I mean, lots that have been ripped to one side, but I've never seen it cleaved in multiple directions like that. Would be an awesome sight in person.

Yeah guys, REALLY big noise,...just before that..I was thinking of going outside to punch holes in my eaves, as water was backwashing into the house,but after that,I changed my mind What was once a beautiful fig tree on the edge of a schoolyard is now completely gone...except....for some large cuttings on my patio ....Dog.

Mate of mine was telling me a story that he learnt in a course he did for work on operating chainsaws. Not that it is really relevant, but the pics just reminded me of his story.
A farmer had taken his young son down to the paddock whilst he cut up an old tree that was uprooted. The farmer worked away at slowly cutting back the tree from the top down. As he had gotten closer, once the tree had been reduced to just a trunk, the tree flipped itself back upright as it was still connected to some roots in the ground. At the end of his work, the farmer went looking for his son to go home.....nowhere to be seen.
Unfortunately, after quite some time they had discovered that his son had actually been playing in the dirt at the base of the tree, and when the tree flipped back into place, his son was actually caught underneath the enormous tree trunk.
Urban myth? Dunno - crap story though!
