How to leave a collection site

Post by Bretts »

My travels today took me past where I collected my Firethorn and cotoneaster so I dropped in to see how the site was recovering.

There was SOO Much rubbish from cutting back all the branches and it took a while to get rid of them.
I didn't do this on the day of collecting but came back

I had to cut this firethorn back to get to the good one. It is surprising to see it has recovered so much less than the ones I took from the ground.

When I removed the branches and cleaned the holes up a bit better I also Planted this Gum seedling. This was about a month ago.

It is going great. Any burnt leaves are from when it was in my care in a seedling pot at home. It looks better than when I planted it.
It is said that if you give a tree like this several Litres of water that is all it will ever need. I gave this tree over 15 Litres when I planted it.
The Firethorn came from where the seedling is planted and the cotoneaster came from where Bailey is standing in the second pic. If you see the height of the Firethorns that have not been cut back to the left you might imagine the Forrest of thorns I had to cut through to get the firethorn out . It was deep inside ;)

This might give a better idea of the thorns I had to defeat :)

Ouch! Those thorns are sharp, what an effort.

Thats good of you to put back what you've taken out.

Fair trade too - a feral for a native 8-)
