do you have pics of this tree mate?

how thick is the trunk? and i would watch leaving wire on for a year, it might bite in, although from what i know of podocarpus they are slow growers, but that doesnt mean much sometimes either, you could put on lots of girth and have the wire cut in.
just watch that, leaving it for a year unchecked will help.

get some pics so we can have a look see hey pal ??? :D

without sounding picky mate i am pretty sure it is podocarpus. depending on the rest of the botanical name its common name is yew. ;)

easy mistake mate, i stuff up botanical names all the time, all good :D ( i hate sounding picky, just wanted to help ya with it so if ya talk to people they dont look at ya wierd, maybe thats just me they look at wierd when i use botanical names and stuff em up    )

look forward to seeing the pics. from what i have seen and heard these specimens take a long time to get to a decent stage, this is just what i have heard, and read in books :D :? :D

enjoy mate :D

look forward to seeing ya twisting work :D

jamie :D

ps. mate nothing ventured, nothing gained, we have all had our losses, its learning from these losses that we better ourselves :D
i am keeping my fingers crossed for ya :D

Mate, that sorta bending won't even phase it! She'll be sweet :)
DId it need 2x 3.5mm to bend? Could have probably done it with one, or 1x 4mm at most!
Gve it plenty of fert and she'll be right :)

G'day liquid luke,

How thick is the wired trunk?
If you have thin branch's that need wiring and you wish to leave growing room, try the technique outlined in this thread.
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=108
It is possible to thread two coils of wire around a young single trunk too - I did - and it worked well.

dont stress bout that mate all is good, i was just trying to give ya a hand with the botnaical name, i am still learning them to, anyone that says they dont make mistakes is a liar and a fool   i make em all the time so all is good :D

and as the others have said that sort of bending is no dramas at all mate :D
its only sharp acute bending to worry about thats nothing what you have done some nice gentle curves. i would even go some more ;)

enjoy and have fun :D
