My ficus trunk is turning white?

Hey people,
I've tow ficus at home (a ginseng and a retusa), and theyr trunks are turning grey/white.
I only spray them with bottled water, and when I do that, theyr trunks regain their beautifull dark brownish color (for less than 10 minutes).
I thought that the color was caused by sault deposits.
I'vre tryed to clean them with some coton and destilated water, but the trunk regains the withe color after minutes.
What can I do?
I live in a dry envyronment, and the trees are indoors.
Cumps,
AndreLMS
