Hey people,
I've tow ficus at home (a ginseng and a retusa), and theyr trunks are turning grey/white.
I only spray them with bottled water, and when I do that, theyr trunks regain their beautifull dark brownish color (for less than 10 minutes).
I thought that the color was caused by sault deposits.
I'vre tryed to clean them with some coton and destilated water, but the trunk regains the withe color after minutes.
What can I do?
I live in a dry envyronment, and the trees are indoors.
Cumps,
AndreLMS

Re: My ficus trunk is turning white?
G'day, It means theyre getting older. Bark colour also depends on the amount of sunlight. I would presume the fig bark is white because of a combination of direct sunlight + heat and the natural maturing process. White colour bark is quite attractive on fig, especially after defoliation.
