today after a very hot and windy nursery crawl this morning i come home with a lovely little buxus harlandii. this little tree at first was hidden among others and didnt jump out at me till i nearly fell over it walking out to my car

the first thing i noticed was the nice gnarly corkiness to the trunk, then the taper, then the potential.
here it is as i got it. from here came branch selection and thinning, it took a bit to work out as there was so many branches. but that was a good thing, it gave me plenty of choice.
after 10 minutes of trimming and selecting, i wired up what i had and placed them where they needed to be, i dont think it will take long to set as buxus generally have brittle branches, wiring has only been done as the branches are young and maluable.
so here it is after an initial style, i think it still needs some tweaking especially the back branch, i think it needs to be raised slightly.
and here is a close up of the trunk at the base, it has some awesome corking and gnarling

now to the size of this little one, the base at just above the nebari is 1 inch thick (25mm) with the nebari it pushes out to about just under 2 inches (40mm)
and the overall height from soil line is only 6 inches high (150mm) so it is sitting right in the perspective of the 6:1 ration, which will make it look right

overall i am pretty happy with how it has turned out so far, i think with some good feed and some good sun it will push some great growth and the pads wont take too long to be in shape

thanks for looking, any comments are always welcome
