what pot for this semi cascade juniper

hi all heres a tree ive been working on for a month or so im thinking square semi cascade what are your thoughts

what size is it mate? the only pot i have that might suit would probly be a bit tall, its octagonal in shape though.

pot size is 5 inchs across by about 10 inches tall, the 5 inches across would be from the furthest 2 points.

hi needs to be about 180mm to about 220mm at the bigest

are you talking depth or width? the one i got is 200mm approx. deep. and 125mm approx at the widest points

i will get ya a pic. but i think it will be too small.

mate i have a nice unglazed japanese semi cascade pot that would probably suit it nicely, i will have alook for it and post a pic asap

is the tree staying at that angle?

because i think even a low rectangular pot would suit.
and it could become a Windswept ( with just a Little rotate

)

thanks jordy i like the hexagonal now i just have to find one why dosnt any one stock many semi cascades i love them might have to get one imported or made

after looking at the proportion on my quick Virt there, i'm not sure if i've Underpotted on your tree there...
i don't think so, but something seems wrong... it just doesn't work for me :S

Do any of you see anything? Or is it just me?

Maybe its the lack of Soil Mix that you can see thats bugging me...

For all you newbies

- Underpotting - (for those of you unfamiliar with the term) is where you've placed your bonsai in a pot too small than it really should be... Generally it is seen as a good idea for the scale of your tree.

I've tried bonsai Northside bonsai place bonsai grower red dragon and bonsai farm in melb I think the height of the pot is right just a bit wider may b balaces a bit better

I was in at Tess's Bonsai Northisde yesterday adn she had quite a few semi cascade style pots. I wasn't looking hard at them though, but there were a few nice looking ones.
Send Tess an email or give her a call, she'll find you one =)
Alternatively, I can keep an eye out for one for ya if you want. I'm getting pots from Japan

i have been looking at your tree, i keep coming back to it and looking, i am wondering if you could take the lower section of the tail off to create better balance, right now it looks a little like the pom pom effect but i think with some detail wiring you will get the pads out sweet, i think if you did take the tail off you will have a nice little tree
