Are you sure this is not maple masquerading as bamboo. Looks like a grove of bamboo culms.

On a more serious note - I reckon you’ll love playing with a JM forest - from here you’ll start to put a body on the skeleton- and by that I mean starting to choose buds and branches that makes sense for each tree but more importantly for the over shape and context of the first and each sub-group within. At least that’s part of what I enjoy about developing young forests - rubbing off a bud here, letting a branch develop there.... quite relaxing. Enjoy and keep us updated.
