Hawthorn From Flybri
Fly sent me this hawthorn over a year ago, might have been two. I put it in this locally made pot to encourage root development after tweaking it. New branches are underway and it has the 'makings' as they say. Wish I could post a before but that is all tied up in bonsaiTALK.

Re: Hawthorn From Flybri
Gday Mr Barns!
Looking good - it obviously likes being in the wettest part of Victoria, as opposed to being here...
I'm trying to think, and I reckon it might be 2 years hence, but time is a bit elastic on a Friday evening. I might even be able to track down some pics of the earlier bits...
According to the photo info, it was only 1 year ago...
But look at them roots!!!
Couldn't hurt to whack it into an even bigger pot to get some growth: it seems that Hawthorns put on masses of leaves/new growth and heaps of roots, but they are reluctant to really thicken up...
Glad you showed this one, Mr Barns, and I hope to track down some more of the 'before' pics soon!

Absolutely Jarrod, I should have titled the thread 'Hawthorn By Flybri'Jarrod wrote:Its looking good Ash. I like it, of course some credit must also go to Fri.

Mr. Fly if you can get before shots of this little gem you might like to move the thread to 'Progressions'.
I am aiming for a repot next Spring as it still has room in the pot that holds it. We did get a lot of rain
early Spring and the dams are all full but now we are in the same situation as the rest of the State
with the hawt conditions.
Jamie, my own opinion is that BT is defunct. I hope I'm wrong because we all have stuff we would like to
get back or copy. (I believe all content belongs to the site anyway) It was a lot of peoples first home on the
bonsai internet experience and holds great memories.

* * * * * * The last 2 pics are about what it looked like before I sent it packing to South Gippsland. Sorry I can't find any more...
Enjoy!

More than adequate before shots Mr. Fly and thank you for moving the thread to Progressions. I will update the tree's progress as it grows to keep the progression alive and of interest.
