I have been working on this little Syzgium that I found at the local Mitre 10. Have had it for about 8 months and purchased it for its lovely nebari. It is 15cm tall and I am keen to see how it develops here in Melbourne.

Hi there...you have a good healthy start there and their is many ways to style, I ll kick it off with a idea for you, I notice 3 trunks/branches on the left....cheers

I've been faffing about with a lilly pilly for the past 2 years or so, trying to get acquainted with more native species. I have found them very forgiving to my pruning "techniques?" and that I am constantly rubbing off new shoots all the time from main trunk & branch areas. I think you have a little tree that will keep you quite busy! I would consider AnthonyW's idea of loosing a branch to aid in a more fluid trunk line.

I am a little perplexed however, as I was under the impression I was the World's Greatest Dad?

.... and to KC&R’s point, I too am the world’s greatest dad - albeit that’s what my youngest daughter might still think - my oldest daughter would call me a dinosaur and you have that covered next to the mug too!

Just an update in mt little Lill Pilly.
I took the provided advice and removed one of the main branches to improve the trunkline. I plan to change the position inthe pot to move the front to that in the photo. I am liking working with natives..

What is the difference between Syzgium and Acmena Smiithi?

And are they a late summer bloomer or is mine out of sync with the rest of its kind.
This is only the second year of blossoms and seem very heavy on the little tree but they are slow to open, with only a few actually blooming so far.

I am hoping to maintain a shohin size and am regularly pinching shoots to two leaves which seems to be ramifying ok.

Am hoping to one day see little pink fruit.
