6 Years in the ground

Post by Chris Di Nola »

6 years ago, I was wanting a large trident so i put a small one in the ground & This year I dug it out, worth the wait i think :) .
Going to do a few air-layers before i start on the main tree.
What would it be worth to buy a nursery :?: :?:

Cheers
Chris

that will be a good sized bonsai mate! and worth in a nursery i dont know, basically in a nursery that would be seen as ground grown stock, but you could be looking upwards or more of $1000, a few air layers will give you some good sized trees toos. gonna take a fair while to get the taper in it though. how long do you think it will take to get taper in once you start that work? what sort of time frame are you looking at???

Ray has a few trees Similar size, and he has a trident at the moment with a similr size base, but has been chopped several times and thus has good taper. It is about 1/2 M tall and is selling for $2,200 I think. About 20 years worth of growth in it.

He has decided not to ground grow them of that size any more as the returns are not worth the effort. He will be concentrating on much smaller trees.

How many layers you going to do?

Hi Skippy,

Great results!

Could you please describe the process you took to ground grow...

Was it put into a hole in the ground or in an above ground grow bed?

any other info would be great

Cheers

Scott.
