First time to purchase bare-rooted, bare-trunked , bare everything material. Potted it straightway.
Usually how long it takes to shoot new growth?

It will depend on the species because each one has their own time to come into leaf. you may have read some recent posts saying that chinese elms are coming into leaf in some places. Chinese elms are one of the first to sprout in spring.
Sprouting time also depends on your climate. While Chinese elms are sprouting in Sydney mine are still all bare down here because it is still too cold for them to grow yet.
Sit back, take some deep breaths and leave it alone. Worrying and playing with it or moving it around won't help.
