Too early to repot Japanese maple?

Post by Beaumatsu2 »

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if it is too early to repot a Japanese Maple ? I'm away for two months in a couple of weeks so I will miss prime repotting time for maples. I figured I can always do it when I get back but was wondering if I did it now would it make a differences, as its dormant ?

Thanks,

Beau

Being that you are at the Gold Coast it shouldn't be a problem re-potting maples now. However, make sure you protect them from frost, if your area is prone to them.

I usually end up doing my Tridents and Chinese Elm in August - if they haven't lost their leaves by then I help them along. I am just now getting some colour in the leaves. So you could leave it until you get back

Thank you everyone for the replies. I ended up repotting it and I'll do the others (maples and elms) when I get back.
