Ash loosing leaves

Post by smashedlense »

I dont know if this is the right area for it. My ash tree which i have grown for a few years has suddenly started loosing all its leaves. We have had a couple days over 40c but its been in shade most of the day and had plenty of water. Can it be over watering the past 2 days or is it due to the heat that its haveing issues. Little worried as i love this tree.

Extra water for just a couple of days will not hurt a tree. My guess is that it has been dry, possibly even a few days ago. I'd like some photos to get a better idea as well.

It dried out. No big deal. You can defoliate and prune now and keep just moist and no fert until you get new leaves.

I think that it has dried out as well. Increase water to cope with hotter weather. More important, water effectively - enough water to properly saturate the entire root ball whenever you water it. The potting mix looks well drained so I think it will be hard to overwater this one in summer.
