Dust Storm

Australian conditions vary from one extreme to another. What do you do and when do you do it?

Dust Storm

Post by mick »

Hi Everyone.

Woke up this morning to a brown sky and gale forced wind. Hope my trees are hanling it ok :?
One good thing though is we received 18mm of rain since about 5pm yesterday, and more predicted today. Just wish the wind would die down a bit. My white car is now brown. So is my juniper :( I will have to give it a rince this arvo after work.

I SEE RED! :o What a horrible day. Everything has turned red. There is at least 3ml of red dust on everything in my gardens.Last night we had a huge down pour. And this morning i woke to find everything choking, including me in red dust. luckliy most of my progressions are in the glass house. The rest, ill have to hose off. Where is it all coming from. :?:

At 6 pm last night the sky looked revolting and I moved most of my trees under cover. Woke up at 6 am to bright orange and it is still hanging around and I am starting to feel gritty. The downpour last night was torrential interspersed with monsoonal and when it slacked off a bit it was only extremely heavy. Have not gone outside yet to see what the garden looks like but it is so eerie.. Just glad I didn't wash the car two days ago.

I heard from some friends in Sydney that it was apparently a massive dust cloud from SA and Western NSW that basically blew across Sydney. Bright red skies, and people crying "Apocalypse!" hehe

Just heard from Don Delucca and he says if anyone sees some soil from his place could they bring it back next time they are out at Hay.

I have quite a deal of it on my car and it covered the benches and plants at the collection yesterday.
