hey guys another one i got from the bargain 50% off are at the local nursery total price $9 bargain. i seen plenty of potential in this tree but i need it to grow and grow and grow to get some more foliage on it. i can see a fair bit of potential.
obviously i am looking at informal upright but i am thinking i am going to air layer the top off...maybe to create something smaller around half the size.
as always comments, advice and critique always welcome.
this is in growing pot to, same as the fig i just posted, root prune and repot with seasol and the small amount of wire on the lower branches to see what the posibilities were i thought i would stop and take photos before i went any further, just for the people here on AB :)

let me know what ya think guys :D

edit- the height is about 700mm from the soil just to give you an idea

if it were mine jamie, i would cut to the 1st right branch as the new leader and try to pop on the base of the trunk and sacrafice. its the only way to help the flair. :D

interesting, i was hoping to be able to keep the tree around the hieght maybe. im not sure where i want to go with this one as of yet. i know the height to trunk width ratio isnt right but im not always one for rules. i seen a lily pilly bonsai similar to this with realy defined foliage pads that i realy liked. was trying to mimic something like it. it had a very similar trunk without to much taper. was looking at more of a slender taller tree image. thanks for the idea though antonio. will have a think on it :D

here is a couple of virts of what i seen in this one. first is of keeping it at the same height, the other using an air layer and creating a shohin. the option with the airlayer would create a rather boring tree i think... antonio.. you might have a better idea of where i could go with this if i went down the path your thinking?? i know a lot of buds would pop and give me more oopurtuinty for sacrifice branches to thicken the trunk. you have me curious of where you were thinking with it??????? :? :?: :?:

hey jamie,
i think that you should cut it down to the lowest two branches and bare root it on one side. then plant it slanted to one side

Masons idea is a good one.

Itll immediately give the trunk some movement.
