Trident knows it's Spring.

Pity I can't find last Winters glory pics for this little one but decided to take a few snaps before I think about a clip.
Was seed grown from a tree up the street and suffered between a couple of bricks when I found it 2 years ago.
Probably my favorite jigger as it's got authentic history with a parent only a few houses away.

This winters progress on my little trident plus another I have been working on.
I re potted the little Spring foliage one during Autumn and wired it up.
De wired now and waiting for buds to pop.
I'm happy with it so far.
The send one i purchase from last years Show at Box hill (Vic) and gave it a savage wire up.

Cool..
I wouldn't be afraid to get some taper in your branches by chopping back a node or 3.
2nd tree looks like a Japanese maple to me.
One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Boics.. My stuff up.. It is indeed a Japanese Mapel.
Bit of a brain fade on my part.
Cut back the Trident or the Japanese??
I was thinking the Trident branches may get too thick for it's small size to chop more out of it.
I'm open on it though and I see that the Japanese does have leggy spacing between nodes.
Thanks for the interest..will attack the Japanese today I'm thinking.

I think both trident and JM need some taper in both trunk and branches.. I'd consider letting a leader run wild as a sacrifice in a bid to thicken trunk whilst working on ramification.

My 2c only mate.
