Last night while pinching off a few leave from my young 8month old Chinese elm I managed to drop it and break it ceramic pot and expose a lot of it room system. The problem being that I couldn't re-pot it because I didn't have any more soil or even another pot to put it in so I left it over night in a zip lock bag with as much soil as I could gather and sprayed it insuring that the humidity and soil weren't dry. My question being, what do I do after I've re-potted it? I know not to try cut away at the roots being in the middle of summer. Do I keep it inside for a few days, place it in a colder environment or expose it to full sunlight as normal or do I keep it in shade for a few days with minimal direct sunlight?
I don't want it to die, oddly enough ive found myself getting attached to it I enjoy looking after it, after all it was the plant the got me into wanting to begin with bonsai's in the first place.

You have done everything right and i would now look at getting it repotted. Mist it for a few days in dappled shade and then begin its normal regime. Tie it into the pot for extra security.

I dug a chinese elm about 3 weeks ago on a 35.c day, absolutely butchered it whilst removing it from the ground. Got it home, potted it up, left it in dappled shade and in a fortnite it had all the signs of renewed vigor. As delicate as they can be, they still are a weed. the key is aftercare. HTH.
