akadama
Hi All,
Is anyone using akadama able to chime in , is there different grades other then hard / soft, i.e. particle size?
It just appears this bag has rather larger particle side i guess slighly smaller then a 5c piece?
Other bonsai i have in akadama came pre potted mixed so its really hard to get a gauge...
Cheers
Dan

i guess medium or fine would be more suitable for the average size pot?
ill use this one for the bottom layer or add it to the mix of large training pots / ground growing :0)

Hi
I live in Melbourne. Do you know where I can source Akadama here?
Where do you live and where did you get yours from?

Re: akadama
@Ken yeah thats what i was planning, nothing goes to waste =o)
@Dennis i'm in Perth and you can get it from peter bonsai emporium here (who's great by the way!), no idea over east but shipping across wouldn't be an option unless your doing a pallet or something, shipping 10 kilos of rocks wouldn't make sense =o)

Re: akadama
Pumice is great but it is not a substitute for Akadama.
I believe that there has only been one source (importer) of Akadama/Kanuma in Australia. That is 3WM Bonsai products in Perth.
There have been a couple of pallets brought over to the eastern states, that I know of. I believe, two to Sydney and one to Canberra, not sure on Melbourne or Brisbane.
I have a small number of bags for sale, but it is too costly to post. If you make it to Canberra, let me know and I can help out.

Re: akadama
Thanks for your information..I am also seeking where I can get Akadama as well, but for my succulent plants. If I can only get from Perth...then I'd like to check the post fee... Another way is...Can we get it directly from Japan or China oversea? The point is anyone knows if it will be restrained because it is a kind of "soil"? (Actually I think it's rocks insteadScott Roxburgh wrote:Pumice is great but it is not a substitute for Akadama.

Re: akadama
May be different with different brands, but What I used before have 3 different sizes: 1-3mm, 3-6mm and 6-12mm of the particle diameter. I have seen several kinds of brands such as "龙泉" which is the normal hard, "二本线" and“三本线" which is extremely hard. But all of them have the 3sizes I said above.badabing888 wrote:Hi All,
