Cowra Japanese Gardens Sakura Matsuri with Tony Bebb
The Cowra Japanese Gardens puts on a celebration called Sakura Matsuri or Cherry Blossom Festival as the trees are flowering to welcome in the spring. This extends over the week Monday 21 to Sunday 27 September. With the highlights on Saturday, It is a great time to see this very special garden.
He will be conducting free demonstrations on Saturday 26th September from the charming Japanese styled conference room with exposed beams and large windows overlooking the beautiful gardens.
He will also be conducting Workshops at the Orange Botanical Gardens on Sunday 27th of September.
Numbers will be limited for the workshops so bookings will be essential.

On Saturday 26 September the Garden transforms into a fairground for a day of family fun, showcasing the best of Japanese culture, food and of course, Sake. There are plenty of “hands on” activities for the kids including Origami, Calligraphy, Ikebana, Bonsai, Kite making and flying, jumping castles, Kids Corner including craft activities and games. Giveaways on the day include fairy floss and Paddle Pops. There will also be Gagaku (Japanese musical performance), Tea Ceremony, a Kimono parade and demonstration, Sake tasting, and traditional Japanese singing by the Bethlehem singers,

During the day on Saturday the 26th September at the gardens there will also be Bonsai activity at the Bonsai House that holds the bonsai collection.
From left to right Trident maple, Eucalyptus sp. Prunus elvinis, American Hornbeam, Taiwan Trident Maple Thanks Kindly to Ray and Clinton Nesci for their help in acquiring this stock and pots.

This will be maned by the Central Coast Bonsai club and the Orange Bonsai Club. The members will be demonstrating as they repot and refine the trees in the collection. We where also able to purchase some trees on behalf of the Cowra Japanese Gardens that will be given an initial styling and repot and then added to the collection.From left to right Trident maple, Eucalyptus sp. A bit of an update on the session times for Tony Bebbs demonstrations
10:00-11:00 Introduction to Bonsai

1:30-2:30 Creating bonsai from nurserystock

You need to supply your own tree and materials for the workshop. It generally would run for a few hours but we have left it open ended depending on how many people attend. Let me know if you want help finding something to take.
We don't get this very often out our way so I would recommend not missing it or his demonstrations out at Cowra on Saturday. It will be a great chance to meet all the Western Plains Bonsai people as well.
