Very nice trunk OC. Should make a very elegant bonsai.
Is it perspective in the pics or could your measurements be a bit out? 46 cm tall = around 2.5x 18cm base but the tree looks much taller than that???

Love the trunk mate excellent work.

As for the roots, youd be best to do a ground layer to get proportionally thin roots to the trunk (current ones are too thick in my opinion).

Look forward to seeing this one develop.
There are many ways to do things, but only one "best" way.

Sorry Mo, have to disagree with you. Those roots look fantastic, although probably a few more are needed around the back, but that can be sorted later after the tree has regained it's strength and is growing well again.

Ya can never have roots that are too thick. Tangled maybe, but never to thick. ;)

That is going to be a prize Elm OC.

Lol! Sorry! I just got a dremel so I've been using it to saw, it's got a bit of spring back so often my chops aren't as nice as I'd imagined they were going to be, ha! I guess I'm lucky I haven't lost any fingers yet

Great trunk. Maybe consider knocking off the shoots you won't need, to concentrate growth where you want it? Particularly the three at the back - they make big lumps. I can show you plenty on mine...
