When I repot I use Dynamic Lifter and Blood and Bone (small quantities) mixed into the soil, on the top of the soil I use Osmocote.
Generally I water with Seasol once a fortnight and Power feed one a month
Works well for me up in Brisbane in the growing season, and I usually back of the Seasol and Power Feed in the winter

osmocote 12-14month slow release in the mix at potting (and a little more drilled into the mix yearly if not repotted)
worm juice every 3-4 weeks during growing and occasional extra feed with any liquid feed that is available.
a few chook poo pellets sprinkled on the surface of the mix every month or so during growing for good measure.

Cottonseed meal, blood and bone, charlie carp formed into cakes.
Then charlie carp, seasol, and miracle-gro alternated each week...and lots of water!

i use osmocote in the mix at repotting and then another application 6 months after that etc until next repot (usually start of spring and end of summer).
then i try to liquid feed every fortnight or so with either powerfeed or nitrosol all throughout the growing season and monthly or so in the off season.
i also apply a mix of dynamic lifter, blood and bone and cottonseed meal if available into fertiliser bags (teabags) every month or second month during the growing season.

For me...
Figs get a lot of DL and some osmocote (native) on top of the soil, nitrosol bi-weekly and seasol monthly.
My natives, chinese elms and maples get a few pellets of sudden impact, osmocote (native), nitrosol bi-weekly and seasol monthly (banksia species dont get seasol)
Junipers and Azaleas get osmocote for acid loving plants, sudden impact, liquid fertiliser for acid loving plants bi-weekly and seasol monthly.
I'm in Sydney and am quite happy with the grow on results I get. Not a lot of refining happening here at the moment.
Cheers,
Ces.

Do you guys use the fertilisers at full strength especially the powerfeed.
And and are banksia`s sensitive to seasol and if so why and does that apply to all aussie natives

Thanks

Hey scuba16, you're not coaching North Melbourne in the AFL at the moment are you?
Cheers,

Osmocote in mix and Charlie Carp not as regularly as I should.
Seasol for conditioning at repot time and occasionally added to Charlie.
All ferts at full strength
Tony

I like making fertiliser cakes, but maggots are a problem.

There is nothing that is sensitive to Seasol as it is a tonic and not a fertilizer. You can use it on all natives without fear. The proteas are the most sensitive to P (Phosphorous) and you need to build up it's use on them. Over time they can be exposed to a higher amount of P but it must be done gradually. That's not to say you can use a P value of 8 or anything. Grant Bowie uses Powerfeed on banksias after they have become used to it. You should always use new fertilisers at a reduce strengt5h and work up the concentration on your plants. Never use it at full strength because Joe Blog does

Maggots just make them break down faster on the soil surface, more ferts quicker
