[Not Updated}[Neli] Blue flower shrub

Post by Neli »

• Species name Blue flower shrub
• Original height of stock 1.5m
• Where you obtained it from My garden
• Cost of stock Free
I dug it out two weeks ago for the competition and chopped it, but waited a bit to see if it will survive before posting. I chopped the only two branches it had to reduce the foliage mass for transplanting.
The two branches in between are dead.

I can not do much at the moment. It is just to wait for it to grow some material suitable for branches. Winter is coming here so there is some growth but not too much.

Lots of branches have come up...And the longest is like 7 cm...I think I have a problem of meristematic growth.
This is the approximate plan I have for this tree.

Can you post a pic of what is happening. As I understand it meristematic cell growth would only become a problem should they not diiferentiate into either root or apical growth. Unless the plant has been exposed to glyphosates or radiation (amongst other things) that has altered its genome, the cells should eventually differentiate & growth return to normal.

Btw given your description of the plant it could be a Duranta

What is happening is that there are just too many shoots coming from the same area, causing thickening of the trunk...Like uncontrolled growth.i Have removed many shoots and more are coming.
Going to take a picture now.

No need to worry, all looks normal in the pic, it's not uncommon in some species to get this sort of over abundance of shoots after a hard cut back. Keep rubbing off the ones you don't want & it will be fine.

Thanks Matta,
What worries me is that the lamp is growing creating reverse tapper. Would I be able to curve it away or more will develop?
I had a nursery/garden centers....for many years. I know plants a bit. It is not a duranta...I dont know this one...it can be something wild. I am still searching for the name. The leaf is very small, and maybe 3-4 times longer than wider. It is not a duranta 100% I know it also has blue flower. I shall figure it out one of this days.
