This is a Shimpaku i have posted before ,it was workshoped withTony Bebb at Northwest Bonsai a few years ago,its looking exactley like Tony said it would.

That is QUITE A TREE! Congratulations. I find it really original, because of the small foliage pads. Usually Shimpakus have those big round 'clouds', sometimes they are even poodle clouds. I'll keep your/Tony's alternative styling in mind. :tu2:

Love the root spread, very natural. Tony is a genius with pines and junipers.

I like the styling, but it looks like it has thrown quite a bit of juvenile foliage. Have you worked out what the stressor is?

In my experience the Shimpaku juvenile needle occurs when too heavy pruning has been done. To stop it, for the next growing season I will remove only the juvenile needle and the following season start to lightly trim and style again over the entire tree. Eventually the juvenile needle disappears totally.
