I have just finished sieving my diatomite into 7mm, 4mm and 2mm.
I have quite a bit of fines <2mm; so my question is what do you do with your fines?
Cheers
Mark

Hi Mark, you can use the fines to grow cuttings, diatomite is a very good propagating medium that I used for 10 years until Maidenwell went under.

Re: What do you do with your fines?
Fines are good for seed raising mix but one only needs so much SRM so the rest goes into the vege garden. Should also make a great topdressing for lawn and other garden beds.
Keep it handy to soak up spills in the garage.
Diatomite is supposed to be deadly to insect pests and used by organic growrers. Fine grade is sold to mix with stored seed to deter wheevils. Maybe someone could collect it and package for the organic market?
What grade is used in pool filters?

Thanks guys.
Police fines I can do without. Not sure how easy they would be to push through the seive though.

As for Sifted fines, I keep them fro seed raising and cutting trays, or use them for Kusamono ( small accents )
