A Trident in the works.
I have been working on this guy for a few years now and feeling the need to get rid of its ugly nebari i changed it two years ago. It is healing nicely and gave some wonderful colour this year. I think the trunk line is better now and will be interested to see how long the healing process takes. enjoy the colour.

Re: A Trident in the works.
just wondering if you tried the new planting angle before removal--looks like it would have had an alright base if left on that and angle changed-

Are you planning on hollowing the scar out int the trunk? I have to say I love tridents with hollow trunks

Nice improvements Bodhi. I just wished we got colour close to that. Yours will still get better.
What's with the little sucker/seedling at the base. Are you planning a graft or something

Hi ya Guy, thanks for the observation but i did play with angles. Unfortunately it was always poking you in the eye and totally distracted you from focusing on the rest of the tree.Guy wrote:-looks like it would have had an alright base if left on that and angle changed-![]()
Hi Luke, i will wait and keep an eye on the healing process. It is doing well at the moment. It should, with good management, heal over in 3-6 years and by then the branching will be well and truly established.Luke308 wrote: Are you planning on hollowing the scar out int the trunk?
Hi Tony, cant help myself Mate. When i trim the tree i plant a cutting, it is something i have always doneTony Bebb wrote:What's with the little sucker/seedling at the base.

That is one fantastic looking tree, does yours stay indoors? Mine lives outside and still didn't reach any nice colour despite melbs getting a bit fresh recently now the leaves are falling so will wait till next autumn.

Re: A Trident in the works.
Finally, some Autumn colour. This tree has changed considerably since its beginning and is giving a nice display.
