Look what I got at the BSV sale day

Post by Gerard »

No you have not missed it, it is on next Sunday at Kew.
These trees all came from the "once a year" sale at the Bonsai Society of Victoria.

Thanks Greenhorn,
The pyracantha was $150 but has been changed a lot.
The little corky bark black is still a long way from being potted but has grown heaps whilst in my care. For $60 with one of the best grafting jobs I have ever seen, I think it to be one of my best purchases ever.

I have seen the table layout, a few brand new sellers will be there and the hall is full again including the back room.

Lots of stock changed hands this morning, it was nice to catch up with a few Ausbonsai people.
I will post some pictures later.

No more pictures please - I just want to cry. (where is the 'cry' icon?) Up here in North Queensland we just don't get opportunities like this. I hope you people close to the sale all appreciate what you have and made the most of it.

I am a lost cause when it comes to shohin size black pines.
Before going home I picked up two which had survived the hordes of buyers

The second one here is a root over rock, the grower (Peter F) has produced many mini root over rock black pines. I cannot believe that it sat there all morning with a $20 price tag.

Hi Gerard,

A tree like that for $20? I cannot afford to keep anymore trees. But I don't think I could resist this one either.

I am pretty sure it will turn out very nice under your care.

Have fun and regards.

The sale was over and this tree (pinus sylvestris) had been loaded back onto the owners truck
sale day 015.jpg
I am not sure what happened next, :lost: somehow it came home with me. I needed another tree for a workshop with Hiro!
The container was large and very heavy, impossible to manage at a workshop.
So it got a repot this afternoon.

With the stress of the repot I have decided to wait at least another year before a major restyle.
