My Demo Progression

Post by Leigh Taafe »

The Weston Creek Bonsai Group in Canberra will hold their annual show this weekend at the community centre in Weston (adjacent to the Cooleman Court shopping centre).

I will be doing a demo on the Sunday morning at 11am.

Here is the material I will be working on.

The tree is a chamaecyparis taken from a good mates garden. It is approx. 30-35 years old.
He did a bit of work to it about 5 or 6 years ago. I have been planning what I might do for about 3 or 4 years. This will be the first time I have done anything to it.

I am not looking for ideas on this one, as I have already planned what I will be doing. That said, please feel free to discuss the tree at this stage among yourselves.

I will post more pics early next week of what I was able to achieve in the demonstration.

Cheers,
Leigh.

Looks like a Hinoki. Right?
The WCBG is jolly lucky to see exceptional material like this being worked on at a demo. I hope we get a good attendance and sure plan to watch it myself whenever possible. Have you got someone taking pics? If not, I'll do my best.

Exciting stock to work with Leigh! Can't wait to see what you have planned.

Lisa, I'd love to see some pictures of the demo if you don't mind sharing them with us here.

Steven

Your deadwood needs some work.
I thought the dead wood was great as it was....

Just kidding!

Might not have time to address the dead wood in this demo.

It is a public demo, and I dont want to put the public to sleep.

I did think this tree might spark some discussion about possible styling.

Feel free to discuss it among yourselves......what would you make of it?

(There are stacks of branches and foliage in there to do many things with).

Cheers,
Leigh.

Hi All,

The demo, and the show went very well.

This is just a note to let you know that LLK will be posting pics soon. I will give you a narrative once she has done that.

Cheers,
Leigh.
