That is fabulous, Steven! Super photos, and all in the right order, with the right names. In most cases the corrugated background is less distracting than it was in my photos.
Thanks for that posting!

Since joining this forum I have had my eyes opened to the potential of Australian trees as Bonsai, This forum and seeing the photos posted her has inspired me to pursue more natives over exotics. Thank you to those how have posted pics of the exhibition and thanks Steven for starting this forum.

Thanks Steven,

It was good to get to meet you over the weekend and I hope the trees inspire many people to try native plants as bonsai.

Now for some pictures of the exhibition benches. The display this year was a new concept by MikeB and looked excellent - Very Aussie! Mike told me that it only took less than an hour to dismantle and pack up!

Pictures were taken early Sunday morning before the exhibition opened hence the lack of visitors in the shots. Thanks very much to MikeB for making it possible!

Regards,
Steven

Very well set up display to show the trees to their best. The organisers put a lot of thought into the display and it shows. For those of us who sent trees it is nice to see justice done to them.

Hi Fly, sorry it's taken so long to reply. I didn't get the chance to meet you or Steven. I saw you guys leave the demonstration and thought that you must be a 'eucalyptus person' because of your hat  I recognised you guys from the pics at the start of this thread. I was sitting on the other side of the room to you. I got there after lunch - just before the demo started. I did get to pester Kunzea with a pile of questions though. He is a fountain of knowledge and a top bloke as well. His tree looked excellent when it finished but I had one of Pups 'Oh bugger' moments and forgot to take a few pics
I do have one 'negative comment though....

More trees please

Next year I hope to get in early and have time to meet and great people. In a few years I hope to have a few trees worthy of showing. Until then I will watch and learn and appreciate those talented people who bravely gone where no Japanese bonsaist has gone before.....Australian natives of course

It's Grevillea juniperina "Pink Lady", a cultivar that is popular here in Canberra. There were two at the show, No. 20 and a small accessory one.

I think that Steven's tree was no. 13, Eucalyptus scoparia and I agree that it deserves a mention! It came 3d in the public vote. What struck me, apart from the trunk with that gorgeous bark was the extensive, elegant branching, but perhaps most of all I thought it was the best-displayed tree,
And, please pardon me, but there were so many trees that deserve a mention, including those contributed by MelaQuin, BonsaiRic, Ray Nesci and Shibui, all from interstate.
