OK Xmas is over and Don is chatting again. We may have a change of season though.
Last time we where talking Autumn seemed like a good idea but it seems after some thought Don believes the Olives there will sulk much less (year or so) if collected in early spring.
He is still happy to accommodate us this Autumn if we decide that is what we want but as I said to him, it seems to make sense to take his advice on when to collect. He said that the two times he collected in Autumn that the olives sat dormant for a year or so. The one time he collected in Spring they went gangbusters.
Early spring is often a very busy time though and I was looking forward to an end of season event!
We came up with the last weekend in August or the first weekend in September.
Otherwise we can still head out there in Autumn and just concentrate on a demo or two from Don.
No reason we can't do both times eitherI guess.
I have confirmed that we can set up tents at Dons place so accommodation is easy

Thats alright Xc. I was thinking 1 night but i would think that some could stay an extra night if they felt the need!
I have a habit of running a very full schedual and think that we can fit in two demos and a dig. But maybe we only have time for one demo and a dig.
I was thinking one demo could be on collecting Olives. What to look for and how to do it (before the dig) The other demo would be on caring and styling the olives.
Maybe someone who knows Dons work better has a better idea?

I tend to agree with Brett. It would appear un-appreciative to make Don do all this for us, and go against his advice on when to collect. I vote for spring.

Hi Bretts,
I agree with Jarrod - Don knows what he's talking about. Just let me know the finalised time and we'll (my better half and I) be in it - last weekend in August or first weekend in September sounds good to us! Never have done an olive dig, but looking forward to it!
Cheers, Rudi

I'd love to come, don't know what the other half will say about it though. Atleast there is plenty of time to convince her it would be a good idea to drive 16 hours to dig up trees, oh well she already thinks I'm mad, so it can't hurt to have a go.

I usually just tell her I'm popping down the shop to get the paper and then make a break for it, try that
