first i cut around the image in Gimp, then i editted the image with Picasa, then i erased the sections i didnt want and editted colours in Gimp, then i save it , then i editted the white and black colours in windows, and thats about it

damn that's huge.... how do I make it smaller
As for how I do it, I use photoshop and basically draw over the top using multiple layers for each section (trunk,pot, etc)

No problem mate

Are you happy with that? It's fairly easy to make any changes.
I don't know about the genius thing, you get a fair bit of practice when you need to use these programs for a living

Maybe also with our club name, Southern Highlands Bonsai Group, somewhere.

Your making it too easy for me

I can still change anything easily (fonts etc) if its not quite what your after. This is at half res just to make posting easier, once we nail the final design I will post up the full size version.

Just looking, what if you make the red circle maybe 1/2 size smaller or 1/3 smaller and placed to top right? but still cover most of tree.
Off centre i mean.
