Waht were you doing up at 5 am?

What a fabulous weekend. I will not be there next year as going from here in the West I think I might have worn out my welcome, especially as I was still drinking and talking, with mark till 4 am and all the young uns, had slunk off to bed.

Some did not even make it for the bacon and eggs in the breakfast room. Our TV star Skippy is a wonderful comedian some of the jokes were not for delicate ears. The Grog however was well and truly acceptable.
Grant Leigh was a good boy he went at three as did Brett and Sean and Michael, Skip went out for :!: and did make it back, did not see Clinton go but he and Dad heard me when I came home. Stubbed my toe on the bed in the dark then hit my head on the bed rail.
Great fun.

I would say to any one who can get there next year you would not regret it, it is one fabulous weekend. OH :!: :!: By the way you get to do some serious Bonsai work too.

If I am ever invited to go again I would never give them a chance to change there mind.

I cannot remember being in such wonderful company and making so many new friends.
I would like to thank Skippy, for nominating me to the club and to and old Friend in Brenda for making it happen, and no, Skippy and I did not have a pact on the raffle.
The first two drawn out by me as the special pest from the west were Skippy missed one the Skippy  .

I met Leong of Bonsai South for the first time in person, I had to Stand next to one of his wonderful large figs for a picture. My only down side was coming home.
I was given a lift to the Airport early as there was a friend of Leonarda's going home on a flight so I got a lift wit them. Pup needs the toilet in a hurry.
Now I know how the Ladies feel using public toilets  . Rush into the cubicle before its too late down go the strides ah relief :o  some Bastard who had been in before had missed the bowl a  urinated all over the bloody floor 4 hours and many funny looks, with wet pants, in an Airport is not my idea of fun  :( .

Then an incident on the plane before take off and the 4 am late night starting to catch up :? . A one hour delay, cleared ready for take off after the police and cabin crew sort it out, cheers all round :o the bloody boarding bridge will not retract  wait for a Sydney Airport tech to press the re-set button  . Pressed and more cheers and we are off.
Female Pilot :!: Well we have been delayed all up 1 hour and 15 minutes. So about to ring Mrs Pup to tell her we would be late, interrupted by the cabin staff offering food and drink, crackers and wine, two lots. Forgot the phone fell asleep.
Had a great flight home dreaming of the wonderful weekend. Waken up by the speed freaking Pilot.
Fasten your seat belts ladies and Gentlemen we are preparing for landing. 20 minutes earlier than our scheduled landing time, good job I forgot the phone call God blees that Pilot.

After my diatribe I would say to all it is one WEEKEND that is not to be missed. Sorry you did not make it Steven I was looking forward to meeting you.
Cheers :D :D Pup

Hi all,
I'm new to the Central Coast Bonsai Club (around 6 mths), and thought it would be good to go and meet other Bonsai minded people and learn from them.
I did both of those and some.
Had a great weekend, plenty to do, see and learn.
Lack of sleep on Saturday night (thanks BOYS) not good for Sunday morning. But survivable.
Now I have to wait for my Slippery Elm to grow and I can start to put what I have learnt into practice, cross fingers I don't do something stupid and kill it.
I must say all who went were terrific with plenty of ideas and knowledge, thanks to all.
A really BIG THANKYOU to Pup, Ray and Clinton who entertained and demenstrated :D :D :D .

Thanks to All
Elissa.

It could have so easily turned into an all nighter KC time just flew
After I managed to get these pics up online with my phone which was not easy(not sure it was worth a big man kiss on the cheek though  ). I did my best to clean the room of any red wine (Not sure we can add opening red wine bottle to the list of jobs the ichiban can do either  ) with a T Shirt from my laundry bag and some water :geek: Then hot footed it to bed saying a prayer for those still going. That gave me about 3 hours sleep before getting up for breakfast in the morning. Luckily I am not too affected by hangovers and was surprised to see Pup was a bloody trooper too especially for an old bloke.
The one least happy to see the sun come up that made it to breakfast would have to be Leigh with his second best quote of the weekend being "In hindsight I don't think last night was a good idea", as he slunked out of bed  Others didn't even make it to the morning demonstration though ;) Missed you two most of Sunday you will have to remind me of your user name :D

Hey Elissa
I am not sure we met on the weekend but I figure by your mention of the slippery elm that I saw at the front of the door adjacent to the drinking lounge room that not much separated you from the antics. Sorry  We took turns telling each other to be quite when out side the room but that would have been little concession with an adjacent room as you had.
I am sure in future this will be a bigger consideration!

The weekend as a whole was brilliant. It took me a few years to finally make it to this event after hearing great things about it and I was not disappointed. The Illawarra Bonsai society do a mammoth effort for the weekend and special mention to Brenda, what a kind soul you are.
It was great to finally meet Pup in person although it was like meeting up with an old friend :) After meeting Leonardo, another very kind soul, bright and early Saturday morning as we waited for the rest to rise I could not wait to tell Pup he was much scarier online than in person
I lost count of how many times I was asked if I was going to put progressions up on ausbonsai of the trees I was working on over the weekend so I better not disappoint and get some pics up soon :)
Pup did a great job the whole weekend passing on his wisdom whether doing a demonstration or just walking around chatting. Loved the Forrest Pup :D Ray and Clinton lapped up the usual love that the NSW bonsai community has for them.
Skippy was too busy making money and Missed the Minute to win it games night we had. All great fun. Thanks to all for such a great weekend :D

First up is the JBP that I worked on with Clinton Nesci. It was great to get some hands on technique with Pines. We only wired the two branches as all others can be wired at a later date. This will ensure the health of the tree after the pruning and light repotting it got. It was practically root bound even after the repot last year :D Most thought I was a little ambitious with the plan I have for the tree. But after some discussion with Clinton he siad that I came up with some great ideas and he thinks that my plan was the best decision for the tree. That was a big compliment for me :D

End of last season

Today

Next workshop was with Pup and I stuck him with this Cotoneaster
cot2.jpg
cot3.jpg
Some suggested it was too much of a tree for a workshop but Pup and Myself made quick work of it once Pup came up with a plan that gave us several options for the future :D
cot.jpg
That gave me just enough time to finish of my fun little experiment of a Juniper planted in my weird pot and pure spag moss medium. Noel was very interested and kept asking all weekend if I had got the Juni in the pot yet with a sarcastic look  . He wants me to bring it back next year dead or alive  The composition aspect caused some interest especially from the potters :D
It did not fit exactly as I planned but it will do for now. I might try agian with a younger whip so I can get just the shape I am after much easier.

Hey Brett, you did not tell them it is the one tree, that I have had no luck with    I am still in the process of getting my pics sorted out.

I have had to get some cuttings sorted too for Brenda and Lee. Also had to fix the retic as there was a problem while I was away.

I do have some better shots of the finished tree after Brett got to it with the SAW.

When I have them sorted will post, and the wonderful JBP of Sean's.

Cheers :D :D Pup

Oh my, I laughed so much on the weekend, that my face is stuck in "smile" mode. and yes, I am still happy. having trouble at work trying to ficus,... oh I mean focus.
I was given a lift to the Airport early as there was a friend of Leonarda's going home on a flight so I got a lift with them. Pup needs the toilet in a hurry.
lucky I have now met you Pup, otherwise I might take offense to your comment - thinking you were talking about my driving. but now that I HAVE met you, and now that you have been driven to the airport by me, I know exactly what you mean.

Pup = Thanks for your invaluable advice, Ray = you are so inspiring with your ideas, Clinton = thanks a million with your help/advice on the english elms , Brenda = thanks for another terrific weekend --- you and the illawarra group do a faboulous job. and to everyone who provided a laugh, a big hug to you all.

Leonarda

Leonarda I thank you for the pleasure you gave me with your enthusiasm, and being among the wonderful people I met on the weekend. I was too busy in the back talking to notice your driving, and listening to you all.
My experience, was on Friday when I was taken down to the venue. Driving along on the freeway where the posted speed limit is 110 klms per hour.

When traveling at 60 is very dangerous, but when the driver point's something out to Pup, then crosses into the other lane, that is almost suicide. I was starting to think will we make it. We did and I will always remember that when Mrs pup is driving.

Noel is a very nice man but I think he should stick to his propagation and not the road.
Cheers :) Pup
